FileWizard Scheduling

FileWizard can be scheduled to run a scan, execute a query, and take actions on a timetable that you set.

Open the schedule screen in FileWizard.  If a schedule window is not open, go to File|Open and open file type .sch.

The events you wish to schedule are defined by dragging and dropping from the left pane into the right pane.

In this example, the actions to be performed are:

  1. Scan-- The volume selected for the scan is C:

  2. Query-- The query entitled TmpFiles was chosen and to be executed against the scanned volumes.  (Previously defined as C:)

  3. Logfile-- A logfile documenting the results of the scan is created.

  4. Print-- The logfile is printed to the specified printer

  5. Delete-- The Tmp files found in this query are then deleted.

After the schedule script is created, click on the Start Event icon which will bring up a window allowing you to schedule the time, start date, and frequency of the schedule.

From this window you can use the calendar section to choose the start date.  Then set the start time, and finally the Interval.  Interval choices are Monthly, Weekly, Daily, Hourly, or User Defined.

Then use the Set Active Icon to change the schedule from Inactive to Active.

You can click on the Run Status icon to display all schedules and their status.  The schedule we just created has been set Active.

The Event Viewer icon is used to open a window that will show the history of the running of schedules.

The schedule can be as simple or as complicated as you choose to make it.  You can scan a volume, take action on the results, scan a second volume, run a different query on it, and take action on those results.
